Greetings from the Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM).

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, BNM had planned to establish a writing centre, which aims to strengthen and elevate writing capabilities of writers in the Bank. However, with the current uncertainty and constraints posted by the pandemic, we have pivoted our plans to set up a virtual writing centre and starting small with two main services i.e. develop and facilitate writing workshops and writing consultation (coaching).

In this regards, BNM is looking for an individuals with Writing Centre expertise and experience who are able to offer your professional writing centre services remotely. The engagement is not a full time employment but on a short-term (one year) consultancy contractual basis.

Role Purpose

Build BNM’s writing capabilities for effective and purposeful communication through delivering the Bank’s virtual writing centre services, namely customised writing workshops and one-on-one writing coaching and consultation. The details of the two main Writing Centre services are as follows:

Services Requirements



1. Design & facilitate virtual writing workshops

Design and facilitate customised writing workshops for writers (preferably targeted) group sessions to teach good writing skills that are fit for purpose. Including useful resources to reinforce learning for the writers and supervisors in the writing value chain.

2. Conduct virtual writing coaching or consultation  sessions

Conduct one-on-one or small group virtual writing consultations on request, or referral by supervisors to help the writers improve writing capabilities.




Fees Structure


1. Design & facilitate virtual writing workshops

Please indicate fees per workshop.

Estimated 5-6 workshops a year.

2. Conduct virtual writing coaching or consultation  sessions

Please indicate fees per consultation.

While the consultation is on demand, the estimated number of consultation are as follows:

  • 1-on-1 Consultation- 30 Sessions

  • Small Group- 8 Sessions


•Academic Qualifications: Bachelor, Master or Advanced Degree desirable with specific expertise in English, TESOL, rhetoric,  composition, writing, business writing, technical communication.

•Experience: At least 10 – 15 years’ experience in rhetorical/genre analysis, writing standards development or Writing Centre training. Coaching, teaching or tutorial experience required.

•Additional skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Strong problem-solving, project management and time management
