In this month’s Rewind & Reset piece, we are revisiting the first Digital Edited Collection from WLN: a journal of Writing Center Scholarship., which offers us 18 chapters on tutor education. This month, we’re highlighting Chapter 14: Prioritizing Antiracism in Writing Tutor Education by Kristina Aikens. As many of us are thinking through how to resist various forms of institutionalized oppression, Aikens’ chapter presents a practical framework for bringing tutors into this conversation by raising their critical awareness around the politics of language and institutionalized forms of oppression and giving them the opportunity to practice antiracist strategies for tutoring across cultural, linguistic and ideological differences.
