Asao B. Inoue

Editors’ note: As many public and private institutions in the US continue reckoning with their contributions to systemic racial prejudice, we are reflecting on how the writing center contributes to the dismantling of prejudicial systems. This Rewind and Reset is a 2017 interview between Brian Hotson (Editor Emeritus of CWCAB) and Asao B. Inoue (Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Equity, and Inclusion at Arizona State University). In the interview, Inoue who at that time was the Director of the Writing Center at University of Washington describes how the UW writing center’s social justice and anti-racism statement garnered attention to talk about difficult uncomfortable but very real issues.
